What does a hotel breakfast costing 59 euros look and taste like? We went to test the new champagne breakfast at Grand Hansa’s Kupoli cocktail bar in Helsinki.
The food is laid out in a spectacular way. Magnificent views over the roofs of Helsinki come on top of the shop. Minna Nord
The new champagne breakfast is served in the Kupoli cocktail bar of the Grand Hansa hotel.
Breakfast is served to the tables as a set menu and some of the products were laid out in an afternoon tea-style setting. The offerings are beautifully displayed, and a lot of ready-made small portions have been used in the serving.
The menu includes, for example, Skagen-style brioche with shrimp, salmon roll with dill mayonnaise and roe, brie cheese from Helsinki Dairy and Vilho cheese from Mouhijärvi. The origin of the products was disclosed openly. Smoothies, fruit and salad can be found in serving glasses.
Pastries and breads are made in the hotel’s own bakery. At Kupoli, the dessert selection was impressively laid out on a layered platter. Among other things, there were croissants with cherry jam and chocolate spread, cranberry scones with vanilla chantilly cream, as well as pastries and Macaron pastries.
The salty foods at breakfast were so hard that there was no more room in the stomach for sweets. It was a bit of a shame to leave the pastries untouched on the table. Maybe a doggie bag, a Home Package would have been a great option and this way there would have been less food waste.

Scrambled eggs topped with parmesan and truffle were offered as a warm meal. The combination worked excellently and was completely different from an ordinary scrambled egg.
Hot food was served to the table and anyway the waiter brought more food and drink to the already full table.

There were no alternatives to the juice, it was apple juice from Åland. Of course, good and fresh too. Champagne was from Taittinger or, if desired, non-alcoholic sparkling wine was from Loimer.
Breakfast is designed for two to share. The experience is only intended for people over 12 years old.
