The food offering at Finnair’s Platinum Corner arouses wonder in customers, he says Helsingin Sanomat.

It’s about the fact that minced meat sauce was served in the first lounge on the Schengen side at Helsinki-Vantaa airport last week.

– Now Finnair has run out of money. Minced meat sauce. It reminded me of childhood school food, wrote a customer who dined in the lounge to the Finnair Plus Insider group on Facebook, according to Helsingin Sanomat.

From the pictures in HS’s story, you can see that it was a fairly traditional-looking minced meat sauce.

Finnair’s website in Platinum Corner, a breakfast buffet and a soup and salad buffet with hot main course options and desserts are served every day.

The menu changes every two weeks. Wines, sparkling wine, beer, tentacles and non-alcoholic soft drinks are also available.

According to the website, the Finnair Plus program has five membership levels: Basic, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum Lumo. The latter two membership levels have free access to the Platinum Lounge. Other customers pay 30 euros for entry or use their loyalty points.

Director responsible for customer experience at Finnair’s Helsinki-Vantaa airport Meri Järvinen tells HS that Platinum Corner offers several dishes every day.

Manager responsible for media relations Mari Kanerva on the other hand states that Finnish school food has a good reputation.

– If someone has made such a comparison, I wouldn’t interpret it as negative, Kanerva tells HS.

Finnair has no intention of renewing its lounge concept on the Schengen side.
