Minister Beenders (Vooruit) wants shops in our country to no longer sell play sand. He advises people who have the stuff at home to “collect it with wet cloths” and take it to the container park. The source of all this concern comes from the Netherlands: research by the Dutch ‘AD’ shows that that sand sometimes contains asbestos. Because play sand from suppliers such as Bol.com, Amazon and AliExpress is also for sale in Belgium, Beenders does not want to take any risks.
