Cymona Eagle on board Jari Saarioan extreme rower who got into trouble at sea, will arrive in Cape Town on Friday evening.
Opposite is Philip PalmgrenHonorary Consul.
– The ship comes here outside of Cape Town. He will be brought to the harbor on a smaller boat, Palmgren explains to Iltalehte.
– I’m going to ensure the customs formalities so that he can enter the country. At least he had his passport with him.
Saario was saved to Cymona Eagle with a bag containing a passport, wallet and boat papers. Palmgren’s business card was found in the wallet.
– I met Saario in August in Helsinki. He had kept the business card safe, says Palmgren.
– I go to help with practical matters and see that he gets to the hotel.
According to Palmgren, no bigger celebrations are planned. On Saturday, Saario goes to the doctor and clothes shopping.
– He probably wants a visit to the barber, and we’ll go to the ambassador’s for lunch [Pekka Metso] with, Palmgren plans.
– Let’s see if we can find a sauna for him during the weekend. That would probably be nice.
Palmgren hopes that Saario’s return to Finland will be at the beginning of the week.
