Following the news of Diane Keaton’s death, her family confirmed that the Oscar winner died on October 11 at the age of 79 died of pneumonia.

“The Keaton family is extremely grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received over the past few days on behalf of their beloved Diane, who passed away on October 11 from pneumonia,” they said in a statement to People magazine.
The family also shared a matter close to the actress’s heart: “She loved her animals and was very committed to supporting the homeless. Any donation in her memory to a local food bank or animal shelter would be a wonderful and very appreciated honor for her.”

Hollywood mourns the loss of an icon
Hollywood says goodbye: Stars and companions pay tribute to Keaton on social media. Jane Fonda, her “Book Club” and “Book Club: The Next Chapter” co-star, posted a photo of a smiling Keaton on Instagram. “She was always a spark of life and light. Constantly laughing at her own quirks. Was endlessly creative…in her acting, her style, her books, her friends, her houses, her library, her worldview,” Fonda wrote in the caption. “Unique. That’s what she was. And even though she never wanted to admit it, she was a great actress!”
Director Francis Ford Coppola also honored Keaton in a moving statement. “Words cannot express the wonder and talent of Diane Keaton. Endlessly clever, so beautiful. Everything about Diane was pure creativity.”
