Tappara fans remembered Pate Mustajärvi.

League leader Tappara claimed a clear 5–0 victory over Pelicans at the Nokia Arena on Boxing Day, but the match was marked by exceptional sadness.

Earlier in the day, the whole of Finland was touched by the news of a music legend from Tampere Pate Mustajärvi of death, and its effect was also visible in the hall.

Iltalehti met Tappara fans after the match, who paid tribute to their lifelong supporter.

– The iconic artist is gone, thank him and the band will continue, they said Juha and Emil.

There were also music industry professionals among the Tappara fans. Bassist Ville Rauhalawho played on Pate’s eighth studio album Blacksaid that he respects his long career and friendship with the legend.

– Great respect and admiration. We met a while ago, and this is a big loss, Rauhala said as he hurried to the next gig with his guitar on his shoulder.

Older Tappara fans also wanted to remember Mustajärvi’s musical heritage.

– There have been many fun gigs jamming to Popeda’s rhythm in my youth. They missed it, but the music will remain, they said Erkki, Jorma and Hannu.

– Red and sweet is still a great song, they added in unison.
