This is how North Holland starts King’s Day

After a pleasant and mostly quiet King’s Night, the province is preparing for a big party on this King’s Day. The free market has started early in the morning in most places. The sun has now also broken through and according to weatherman Jan Visser it promises to be a beautiful day.

In Hilversum it is nice and busy early on at the flea market. Dozens of young sellers were ready at 07:00 to give their discarded items a second life.

In Alkmaar the free market is in the city center. There, too, the mini-market is set up in the early morning. Music lovers will also be prepared for the Orange King’s Day on P8 of the AFAS Stadium. Performances are given there by artists such as Maan, Boef and Claude.

Enkhuizen woke up at 8:00 am with the sound of the bells, after which a concert with pleasant music was given on the tower. For the rest of the day, old Dutch music can be heard from a barrel organ and there is a part of the flea market.

In Medemblik the free market starts at 8.30 am. Later this morning, the oeuvre prize will be awarded to the volunteer of Wervershoof. Then a concert is given by the marching band.

Sunny Royal weather

Early risers who want to score the best bargains should dress well, but temperatures warm up later in the day. Weatherman Jan Visser says that it will be sunny in the course of the morning and afternoon. “In addition to that winter coat, the sunglasses should also not be forgotten. Then the spring weather will be fine,” says Visser.

At the end of the afternoon, veil clouds slowly enter the country, and it will remain cloudy for the rest of the day. Rain probably won’t fall.
