Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet a well-known defender from Leijon Oskari Laaksonen Earns about 240,000 euros per season in Sweden – net.

The Swedish club Luleå HF announced on Monday that they had signed a contract with Laaksonen for no less than four and a half seasons. By the standards of European hockey leagues, this is an unusually long contract.

According to Aftonbladet, Laaksonen will receive around 120,000 euros from the Luleå club at the end of the current season.

The Swedish way of life also hits the counter with interesting numbers in terms of taxation. Foreign players are subject to their own tax rules in Sweden, but Aftonbladet has calculated how much the club would have to shell out in order to be able to pay Laaksonen’s net salary to the Swedish player.

– A net salary of 240,000 euros would roughly mean a monthly salary of 260,000 kroner (23,734 euros) for the Swedish player, which with social security payments means a little over four million kroner per season (just over 365,000 euros), Aftonbladet says.

– If we use this formula, Laaksonen’s contract with Lulea is worth about 18 million kroner (1.64 million euros).

In Finland, for example, roughly half of a monthly salary of 20,000 euros remained in hand in 2024.
