The Munich team had to accept the first scratch. Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer also played a part in this.

FC Bayern’s flawless series is broken. The German record champions couldn’t get past a 2-2 draw at 1. FC Union Berlin on matchday ten of the Bundesliga – and were even behind twice. Manuel Neuer was not uninvolved in the first goal conceded: “The visibility wasn’t perfect for me and the distance isn’t perfect either. But I made the wrong decision,” said the former German number one on Sky after the final whistle.

At the An der Alten Försterei stadium, Danilho Doekhi initially gave the home team the lead (27th minute). The centrally shot ball slipped through Neuer’s hands. A mistake with consequences. With the draw, Union stopped Munich’s streak of winning 16 competitive games. How did the Berliners manage to do that? “First of all, they scored two goals,” said Neuer and continued: “To do it so well that we conceded the goals broke our necks,” said Neuer.

Goalkeeper Harry Kane, who scored the late equalizer with a header in stoppage time, encouraged his captain: “It was a tough game. It was a big fight. We had to fight and stay calm and it wasn’t our best 40 minutes,” he said about the weak opening phase. The English international striker was less interested in the fact that the winning streak was broken after the draw: “The winning streak is over, but that can also be a good thing: at least now people won’t talk about it anymore.”

After the mistakes of their pursuers, the Munich team still have a six point lead in the table. Neuer didn’t see the draw as harshly: “That’s a very good point for us, we’ve collected points, the competition hasn’t.” Coach Kompany also finally stated with a look at the table: “If you look at what the opponent has done, it is of course a point won,” he said on the streaming service DAZN. By the way, the fact that the Munich team had a hard time in Köpenick came as no surprise to the coach: “I prepared the team for what to expect.”
