This is how Luisa Görlich prepares for the “half tour”.

Luisa Görlich was recently a guest at an athletes’ gala away from everyday ski jumping in a chic outfit. In her column for sport.de, the 25-year-old reports on what she experienced there and also reveals how she would like to approach the upcoming competitions in Oberstdorf and Garmisch, the so-called half of the Four Hills Tournament, which is due after Christmas.

The limousine pulls up and we get out in a good mood. Red carpet instead of a ski jump, champagne instead of electrolyte drinks, today it’s time to celebrate. As a team, we have been invited to the Athlete of the Year award, as last season we were able to achieve a significant success with our team’s world championship title, which we can and are proud of.

Everyone who has a reputation in sports meets in the old spa house, and above all we finally get to see our colleagues from other winter sports, who we can usually only admire on the television screen during the season, such as a good-humored Eric Frenzel in a tuxedo, who will be honored later that evening for his life’s work in sports and who gallantly holds the door open for us.

We enjoy the evening and present ourselves as a jumping team, follow the awards closely and celebrate after the TV connection is over. We have factual, technical discussions, laugh a lot and summarize anecdotes that are typical of athletes’ lives.

After breakfast the next morning we got back to everyday sports life. Departure for Seefeld, a last training camp before the Christmas holidays.

Out of the ball gowns and into the jumpsuits!

We have to work on a lot of things, admittedly the beginning of this season could have gone a little better in terms of the performance as a team.

Görlich sees demands on the DSV team

The tableau of the top ten has been really shaken up compared to last year’s competition. While other athletes such as Josephine Pagnier and Alex Loutitt have developed further, we are currently experiencing slight stagnation and our leaders from last season, Selina Freitag and Katharina Schmid, were not able to seamlessly build on their performances from last winter.

We are now all required to identify mistakes step by step and optimize our jumps. Every day counts and in Seefeld we now want to work on it in peace.

Then we’ll go home: Thuringian Christmas, which I’m really looking forward to. Being with the family, spending carefree days, long walks, clearing your head and charging your batteries for a highlight of the season, the jumping in Oberstdorf and Garmisch, the so-called half of the Four Hills Tournament, which is scheduled after Christmas.

While we women competed for the silver owl in Austria and Slovenia last year, we are now getting closer to the golden eagles in at least two of the traditional locations of the Four Hills Tournament.

I wish everyone a nice Christmas time!

Best regards
Luisa Gorlich
