This is how Hollywood stars reacted to the actors’ strike

Numerous Hollywood stars have taken a stand on the actors’ strike in the United States.

President of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), which represents Hollywood actors, and among others NannyFran Drescher, known from the comedy series, announced on Thursday that the Hollywood actors union will go on strike.

The official strike notice was issued after the union’s negotiations with major studios and streaming services over a new contract failed. An attempt had been made to reach a negotiation result by extending the deadline of the previous agreement by a week and by bringing a federal mediator into the inflamed negotiations.

The strike took effect on the night between Thursday and Friday local time, but many Actors talked about the effects of the strike even before its official start.

Among other things, an actor Matt Damon told Oppenheimer– at the premiere of the film on Thursday night in London, that the strike will affect his new production company, which he founded together with an actor friend Ben Affleck’s with.

Damon commented on the strike moments before the cast who attended the premiere walked out of the event in solidarity with the strike.

– The strike will be difficult for the actors, 160,000 actors. No one wants a work stoppage, Damon said.

– But if our leaders say that the contract is not fair, we have to stand firm until we get a contract that is fair to the working actors, he added.
