It is getting busier during carnival in Kruikenstad. Very nice of course, but last year it was so busy that thousands of people had to stay outside the fences of the event and catering locations. There was simply no place. That is why the municipality, together with Carnival Foundation Tilburg, has taken a number of measures this year to absorb the increasing pressure and to make carnival ‘safe and pleasant’.
This year there is extra room to celebrate. The Stadsforum, where the Carnival Foundation Tilburg organizes its own events, is added and even becomes the new ‘carnival heart’ of the city. Last year, around 24,000 to 28,000 carnival lovers visited the city center, spread over 8,000 square meters.
This year the organization expects just as many visitors, but there is a lot more space. In total it concerns approximately 14,000 square meters because the city forum and the umbrella hall are added. Included, there could be 18,000 visitors. A total of 48 toilets are also placed in the city center to prevent wild peeing. Another 22 pieces will be added on Sunday. The toilets are emptied and cleaned twice a day.
To make the carnival this year run safer, more cameras are becoming and more boas take to the streets. There is also a real carnival coordination center in the town hall, where the municipality, emergency services and other parties keep an eye on everything. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday they receive support from 22 security guards, on Monday this is ten and on Tuesday eight.
Jugs city app
This year the carnival digitizes in Kruikenstad. Carnival lovers can use a real jug city app. There is a map with all bicycle parking facilities and toilet locations. You can also see on the app where it is busy: a square is full, then that is on the app. For residents who experience nuisance, there will be an extra WhatsApp complaints line. The municipality promises to handle complaints as quickly as possible.
