This debutant is already pushing into the starting XI

Here we feature one player each week that is under the radar, represents very good value for money and could quickly increase its market value. Today with Leo Greiml from FC Schalke 04.

The current comunio stats

market value: 400,000
Points: 1
points per game: 1.0

Leo Greiml came to FC Schalke 04 in the summer – with a cruciate ligament injury that had just healed. It was clear anyway that the central defender, whom hardly anyone in this country knew anyway, would need a certain amount of time to get up to competitive level.

For Greiml, the competitive situation with seasoned players like Maya Yoshida, Malick Thiaw and Marcin Kaminski seemed a bit big anyway. The 21-year-old sometimes fell close to the lower end of the market value.

That’s what makes Leo Greiml so strong

Greiml is undoubtedly one of the best footballers born in 2001 in Austria. He has gone through all the U-national teams in the Alpine Republic, he has played more than 40 games for Rapid Vienna in the Bundesliga in Austria as a regular player and even in the European Cup he has made twelve appearances in the Europa League and the Champions League qualification.

So Greiml is by no means a nobody. He just disappeared from the radar after his cruciate ligament rupture almost exactly a year ago. But now he’s ready to attack. Physically, everything is worked up again, Greiml has already been able to gather match practice four times in the reserve in the regional league, even over 90 minutes there was enough air. The Bundesliga debut followed on matchday 6. Greiml came on as a substitute in the final minutes of Schalke’s first win of the season against Bochum and even took a point in the three minutes played because he was able to clear an opponent’s action.

Leo Greiml has these perspectives

Greiml is full of praise in Schalke: “He showed in training how advanced he is, that he attacks and his way of playing football suits Schalke perfectly. He’ll be knocking soon,” sporting director Rouven Schröder said a few days ago. The hope of playing time is high, but even a regular place is not utopian for Greiml.

With Malik Thiaw, a regular competitor has left the club, Marcin Kaminski does not seem to play a major role in Frank Kramer’s considerations at the moment and there is currently only one free place next to the seeded Maya Yoshida. Last-minute newcomer Sepp van den Berg grabbed it right away. But Greiml doesn’t have to hide from him. The Dutchman still had some problems at the beginning. Greiml is also considered an enormously ambitious player. That too could make the difference in the end. One thing is certain: For 400,000 you can actually only win here in the next few weeks by investing in this player.
