Microsoft is starting to distribute the new Outlook e-mail application to Windows PCs with the January optional hotfix package.
At this stage, the user can still avoid the new email program if he wishes.
In February, however, the situation is different. The monthly cumulative update package for Windows contains the new Outlook, and its arrival cannot be easily prevented.
Windows’ old calendar and e-mail applications are closing down, and Microsoft wants to move users to the new Outlook.
However, the decision to force the installation on users’ computers has caused widespread criticism, although the situation is not the only one of its kind. Microsoft has previously resorted to “forced entry” of applications and updates for users who avoided them.
The good news is that if you don’t feel you need the new Outlook application, you can remove it afterwards.
It is possible to prevent the mandatory update by editing the Windows registry, but this is not recommended for beginners.
