According to the tipster, the thieves struck in the night and drove right through two fences. They would have known exactly where the cameras were. The truck comes from blasting company Cuijpers, from Elsloo. It is unknown if there was any material in the truck. According to the anonymous source, a lot of steel was also stolen.

The owner of the blasting company has indicated that the box truck has been found again. It is currently being seized by the police for further investigation.

Security
Security did not notice the incident until Tuesday morning. The police have now arrived and Chemelot has filed a report, a police spokesperson said.

Chemelot response
In a response to the theft, the chemical company says that there is always security on and around the site. “We have security and they drive their usual surveillance routes.” The company also has its own control room, the Operational Center Chemelot (OCC). “In the event of an emergency, the OCC is alerted. They direct the fire brigade and security and coordinate the activities on the site. The Operational Center Chemelot is manned 24/7. All have received a fire service and thorough security training,” said the spokesperson.

The police are investigating the incident, using CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses (if any).
