MiG-31K fighters with hypersonic Kinzhal missiles and Tu-22M3 long-range bombers were relocated to the Syrian Khmeimim airbase, the Russian Defense Ministry told RBC.
Aviation will participate in the naval exercises of the inter-naval grouping of the Navy in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, the ministry said.
“The main focus of the exercises is to work out the actions of the forces of the Navy and Aerospace Forces to protect Russian national interests in the oceans, as well as to counter military threats to the Russian Federation from sea and ocean directions,” the report said.
