Thieves steal 20 kilometers of cabling from solar panels at wood company Cras

The victim is timber company Cras. The panels are located in a storage shed. The thieves would have been working for two nights. The damage is certainly in the tens of thousands of euros.

Yesterday, the Waregem wood company Cras established that the cabling of the solar panels on large storage sheds in Deerlijk was stolen. In total there are 9000 panels. The thieves would have struck in the night from Friday to Saturday and in the night from Sunday to Monday, because the panels fell out in two phases, it turns out.

Police are investigating this morning. Although the sheds are located along the highway, the rear part of the roofs is not visible from that side. The site is also quite remote. The damage is high and there is also the power output that is now lost.

The price of copper has recently doubled to about 2 or 3 euros per kilo, so the thieves may not have noticed that either.
