An operation in Villa Crespo ended with the discovery of a true illegal treasure: more than a hundred garments made with skin skins in danger of extinction, valued at more than 300 million pesos. The city police closed a historic place in the neighborhood and notified its owner, HUNOR GOMBOS85, who for years boasted to have the former president as a client Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

The procedure was not accidental. The investigation began in the digital world, when the Specialized Fiscal Unit (UFEMA) He detected promotional videos in which the merchant exhibited coats and accessories made of species protected by law. After the judicial authorization, members of the Environmental Crimes and the Body of Judicial Investigations broke into the premises of Serrano Street at 800 and also in the accused’s private home.

What they found even surprised the researchers: a Yaguareté cover —Animal declared a National Natural Monument – 25 Boa garments, Fox pieces, otter and mink, in addition to covered made with ñandú leather and white fox. The list of seizures also included tails, wildlife blankets, a colored deer and a twenty red fox skins. In total, there were 122 objects whose valuation is estimated at about 335 million pesos.

The most shocking rarity was Yaguareté’s coat, which the experts did not assign a price because it is considered incalculable. The possession of that piece, in itself, represents a direct violation of current environmental legislation.

The merchant was notified by illegal exercise of activity and by possession of prohibited products. Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Control and Control ordered the immediate closure of the premises, which had worked for decades in the heart of an expanding commercial pole.

Cristina Kirchner

But the case not only generated an impact on the environmental crime. Gombos himself had counted years ago, in an interview with The chroniclerthat his business provided leather shirts to the then president Cristina Kirchner. According to their version, the garments were sent to both the Casa Rosada and the Olivos residence. “It is a client since 2003, when Nestor assumed the presidency, and has about ten shirts,” said the Hungarian merchant.

That link, added to the magnitude of the confiscation, revived interest in a place that once knew how to be part of the Boom of Outlets of Villa Crespo and that today was marked by a judicial file and by the shadow of an illegal trade that developed in full view.
