You have fans of Willem II, you have big fans of Willem II and then you have Martijn and Sam: they have been waiting since a quarter past nine Monday morning for Willem II to be honored.
The two supporters don’t want to miss anything from the ceremony. That’s why they’ve been waiting in the center since a quarter to nine. “We wanted to be the first,” says Martijn. And that seems to have worked: the duo are decked out in shirts with their scarves and caps at the very front of the fence.
Are they not terribly hot? “No, it’s not too bad,” he sounds delighted.
Warning against the heat
The municipality warns fans not to arrive too early because of the heat. It is also advised to drink enough and to apply sufficient sunscreen.
A lot of ice is also supplied, especially to provide the emergency room with cooling options.
