Yle will end its basic TV broadcast at the end of March. Traficom has released a tutorial video to check the compatibility of its own device.

The basic broadcasts of YLE will end on March 31, after which only YLE HD channels can be viewed in both the antenna and cable network. Commercial channels move on to HD broadcasts alone on June 30.
According to a recent study commissioned by Traficom, the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency, there are still about 100,000 households in Finland that do not have HD receiving TV. Of these, 80,000 are, according to Digita, antenna households.
If the TV or set-top box is not HD compatible, it cannot look at HD channels. Traficom urges all households to check the readiness of their devices in time.
“In addition to our own television, we encourage you to check the hd readiness of your loved ones, especially older TVs, so that TV broadcasts will continue,” says Lasse Laine, Director of Traficom.
If the economy does not yet have an HD-compliant TV or set-top box and you can’t buy a completely new device, you can also buy one used. Since HD technology is no longer the latest, a functional HD-compatible device can even be found for free.
