The village restaurant Cru located in Espoo’s Kauklahti has closed its doors. Cru has drifted into bankruptcy at the request of the mutual employment pension insurance company Varma, the District Court of Länsi-Uusimaa finds out. According to the district court’s information, the occupational pension insurance company has receivables from the restaurant for a total of approximately 37,089 euros.
– The lights have gone out. Our company was filed for bankruptcy by the occupational pension company just at the beginning of the best season of the year. The booking situation in December was excellent, but now the timing was really, really bad. It all happened too fast. We tried by all means to search and find solutions, write the restaurateurs Julia and Matti Auf der Mauer the restaurant on Facebook pages.
According to data from Kauppalehti, the restaurant’s profitability has been weak, because in the fiscal year 05/2024, JM Restaurants Oy had a turnover of 306,381 euros and its result was a loss of 96,473 euros. The financial information is based on the corrected information of the company, which is why the figures may differ from the official information.
The cause of bankruptcy is the prevailing circumstances, such as an increase in value added tax.
– Running a restaurant is not easy. Anticipation of demand, rising costs of raw materials, inflation, recession and increases in value added tax have disciplined all of our wallets.
The restaurant was open for less than 3 years.
Cru’s restaurants have commented on the situation on Facebook in a heartbreaking way:
– I heard a lot of praise from people from other parts of Espoo, our family thanks you for the good food, excellent service and nice place.
– Your story shows courage and love for doing things. The food was always really delicious and the atmosphere the best – warm, honest and approachable.
_ With longing and sadness, we give up on you. All the best and all the best for the future. Life carries.
