“I ended my relationship, sold my house and got on a plane.” The Flemish people in the Liberty Home rehab clinic – led by West Flemish Morgane Conlon Vercruysse (33) – have traveled to South Africa because they are at their wits’ end. They want to get rid of their years of addiction. Their last hope lies 10,000 kilometers away – far from everything that lures them to coke at home. One of the three Flemish guests at the moment is Hans*, who works at a GP emergency post. “I work with doctors every night who drink and snort. Their doctor’s bags contain everything: benzos, alcohol, pills and coke.”
