Vaasan Sport’s difficulties continued on Thursday evening in Hämeenlinna, when the team succumbed to HPK in the only SC league match of the day with a clear score of 1-4.

The opening set of the match went without goals, but in the middle of the second set, HPK’s golden helmet Jesse Kiiskinen took over the game. The promising young forward went up to the area alone with the puck and shot sharply past the Sport keeper Joni Ortion in time 31.33

The club increased its lead at the end of the set, when Viljami Jokirinne scored the home team’s second goal, the 2–0 goal that ended up being the winning goal of the evening.

Sport got a small glimmer of hope at the beginning of the third period, when Hannes Häkkilä reduced the situation to 2–1 in 47.05.

However, HPK did not waver. Petteri Nikkilä took the club to a two-goal lead again with a draw, and three minutes before the end Joose Antonen nailed the puck into the empty net for the final numbers 4–1.

with HPK’s goal Mark Sinclair stretched in front of the puck 25 times, while Ortio had 17 saves.

Vaasa’s balance head coach by Doug Shedden in command is grim: four defeats from five matches.

HPK is in 11th place in the standings with a total of 30 points. Sport continues second last, with 20 points in its bag.
