Theater on the train and sunflowers: NS will operate a Van Gogh sprinter on Monday

Be portrayed during your train journey and enjoy a theater performance in the compartment. It is possible on Monday in the sprinter between Zwolle and Assen. The NS will then pay attention to the train ride that Vincent van Gogh made exactly 140 years earlier on September 11.

“From 10.52 am the first Van Gogh Sprinter will leave Zwolle towards Hoogeveen and Assen. Between then and approximately 3.30 pm, NS will run a number of Sprinters with a special Van Gogh coupe, with cushions on the train seats in the style of Van Gogh Drenthe,” reports the NS. Theater company Garage TDI will give small performances during the train rides.

Travelers who disembark in Assen will be welcomed with sunflowers between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. A total of 140 tickets are hidden in the flowers for the exhibition ‘On a trip with Vincent’ in the Drents Museum.

Sunflowers are also distributed at Hoogeveen station in the afternoon. And travelers can also bump into the painter himself there. At 2.15 pm a Vincent van Gogh arrives at Hoogeveen Station. He will be driven into the city by horse-drawn carriage to open a Van Gogh roundabout.

On September 11, 1883, the now world-famous painter got off quite anonymously at Hoogeveen station. He stays at a lodging house near the railway and later moves into the province. “Reason enough to welcome Vincent again exactly 140 years later,” says the NS. Van Gogh later moves east into Drenthe, and activities will take place in Drenthe throughout the year around the Van Gogh theme.
