Among other things, a Moroccan who competed twice in the Olympic final and in the Diamond League in his career Mohamed Tindouft competed on Wednesday at the Lahti athletics stadium.
When he was asked why the man competes in Lahti, the answer was clear.
– It’s not too hot here.
The Moroccan also competed in the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku last week and ran to victory with a time of 8:11.52. On Wednesday in Lahti, he stopped the clocks in 8:31.77 when he crossed the finish line first.
Tindouft says that he prefers Northern Europe precisely because it is not nearly as hot here in the summer as, for example, in his home country.
However, there is one thing he does not like.
– The nights are too short.
When he is told that in Finland next week Midsummer will be celebrated and the so-called nightless night, he doesn’t want to believe what he hears.
– Really?
The Moroccan has competed in the Olympic final twice. At the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, he finished 13th in the 3,000-meter hurdles. Four years later in Paris, the ranking improved by one.
The best time of the experienced 33-year-old athlete’s career is recorded at 8.10.62.
