A South Korean woman has been sentenced to four years in prison for being a soccer star Son Heung-min33, for extortion, British media reported.

A woman in her twenties, called Yang, sent Son 2024 an ultrasound image of the child she claimed belonged to the player. However, according to the court in Seoul, the woman had no proof that the child she was carrying was Son’s.

Yang put a price tag of 300 million won (175,000 euros) on his silence.

According to the South Korean media, the woman squandered the amount paid by the player on luxury and designer products.

The blackmail attempts continued, and eventually Son went to file a criminal complaint.

A man in his forties, who became Yang’s accomplice, pleaded guilty and received a two-year prison sentence for his involvement.

Son, who represents Los Angeles FC, is the second highest paid player in the North American MLS league.

Before leaving for the United States, Son spent ten years in Premier League Tottenham.
