‘The Witcher’: ‘Heroic Farewell’ for Henry Cavill?

The third season of The Witcher series will be the last to feature Henry Cavill as the main character, Geralt of Rivia. The actor is to be given a spectacular farewell in the new episodes, which are expected to be released in the summer of 2023.

Series creator Lauren Hissrich promised a “heroic farewell.” “Henry brought so much to the show and we want to give it proper credit,” she said in an interview. Speaking about the upcoming episodes, she revealed that for her, the new season is “closest to a one-to-one adaptation of the books.” The plot will therefore be strongly based on “Time of Contempt”, the fourth part of the novel by Andrzej Sapkowski.

Cavill’s character, Geralt, will undergo a major transformation that will consist of “giving up his neutrality to do whatever he needs to do to get to Ciri.” Hissrich stated, “To me, it’s the most heroic farewell we could have had, even though it wasn’t written that way.” Then, in season four, the character not only has a new mission, but also a new face, with Liam Hemsworth taking on the role takes over. Cavill announced in October that he was leaving the series.
