With his role in “The Wire” he wrote series history and took part in one of the best TV series of all time. Lance Reddick has died at the age of 60.

Reddick was on a promotional tour for the upcoming film John Wick: Chapter 4, in which he stars alongside Keanu Reeves. As the American celebrity portal “TMZ” reports, his body was discovered on Friday morning (March 17) in his home in Studio City, California. The cause of death is not yet officially known. According to local authorities, he is said to have died of natural causes.

Reddick was born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1962. He was interested in acting from an early age, but initially aimed for a career as a musician. But nothing was to come of it — and so he graduated from the Yale School of Drama. At first he was seen in rather small roles — in the 1998 films Great Expectations and Godzilla, for example. He was able to celebrate his first major successes in the early 2000s with the series “Oz – Hell Behind Bars”. He was then cast in the HBO series The Wire, where he played the role of Lieutenant Cedrick Daniels. He was featured in all 60 episodes of the cult series. He had other roles in the series “Lost” and “Fringe”. Until recently, Reddick was seen in cinemas and on TV. He has also worked on video games such as Horizon Zero Dawn, Destiny 2 and Quantum Break.

Reddick’s last post

Reddick had posted a photo of himself and his dogs on Instagram a few hours before his death. He can be seen laughing on it. In the comment column of his last post, fans say goodbye. “Thank you for all the unforgettable memories, our eternal commander,” writes a follower, alluding to his role in the computer game “Destiny 2”. “I can’t believe he posted a day ago and he looked healthy and happy with his dogs. Life is amazing, one day we’re here and the next we’re not,” laments another.
