The white wine of 2022 is here

The vineyard has selected the three best white wines of the year.

Vine leaf The white wine of the year 2022 is the German Corvers-Kauter R3 Rheingau Riesling Reserve Organic 2021.

The wine costs 14.89 euros at Alko.

The jury describes the wine as a price-quality finding and evaluates the wine as follows.

– Ripe fruity aroma with apples, peaches, honey and shades of sweet spices. The taste is dry but fruity. It repeats the versatile aroma world of the scent. The delicious and rich taste of the mouthpiece gets the necessary balance from the citrus acidity. The wine leaves a long-lasting, pineapple pineapple and peach with a nuanced aftertaste that elegantly lifts the water to the tongue.

The wine is especially well served with red meat and shellfish.

The German Krämer Straîght Sauvignon Blanc 2021, Krämer Straight, Qualitätswein Rheinhessen, which costs EUR 12.90 at Alko, was also chosen as the second best wine.

Third place went to Stoneleigh Wild Valley Wild Fermented Pinot Gris 2021, Stoneleigh Vineyards, Marlborough New Zealand. Its price at Alko is 13.99 euros.

More than half of the wines entered in the competition were made from Riesling.

This is how the winners were chosen

Importers entered the competition for more than 260 wines, all of which Juha Berglund and Antti Rinta-Huumo fed blindfolded. The wines could cost a maximum of about 30 euros and had to be in Alko’s standard or order selection.

32 wines made it to the finals after the pre-qualification tests. The winning wines place particular emphasis on their authenticity and traceability, as well as their high quality and harmony. The top three also aim to choose wines with different styles.
