On Friday (February 24), The Weeknd released a remix of his first 2016 song “Die For You” – along with Ariana Grande. She had already indicated the collaboration on February 21. A TikTok video showed her editing her part in the studio.

This is the second time The Weeknd has taken the song from his album STARBOY to new popularity. In 2021, on the record’s fifth anniversary, he released a previously unknown music video for his hit, inspired by the series “Stranger Things”.

It’s also the second time Ariana Grande has appeared as a remix partner on a song by the Toronto R&B singer. In 2021 both worked together on the new edition of “Save Your Tears”. This was originally released on AFTER HOURS in 2020. Since the two met in 2014 on Grande’s “Love Me Harder” from the album MY EVERYTHING and then in 2020 for the POSITIONS track “off the table”, the combination has apparently established itself as a guarantee of success.

The 29-year-old captioned her February 21 TikTok video with the note that she had already spent 14 hours on set that same day. This is in reference to the ongoing film adaptation of the Broadway musical Wicked, an adaptation of the story The Witches of OZ, in which Grande will play the good witch Glinda.

Beginning in June, The Weeknd will be touring Europe and Latin America with the album AFTER HOURS. In July and August he comes to Germany for a total of four concerts. These will take place in Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf and Hamburg.
