Anthony Ciccone, Madonna’s brother two years older, is dead. He died on February 25, 2023, as announced by his brother-in-law, musician Joe Henry. Henry is married to Madonna’s sister Melanie Ciccone. Her brother lived to the age of 66 and suffered from alcohol addiction.
“And God knows how difficult it was between us at times, as only true brothers can be. But I loved him and understood him better than I sometimes wanted,” Henry wrote on Instagram for a black and white picture of the deceased.
Anthony Ciccone worked in Michigan before becoming homeless for several years. The relationship with his prominent sister is said to have been strained. The Daily Mail reported in 2011 that Madonna paid for his stay in rehab. Nevertheless, he publicly accused her of a lack of support. The singer has yet to comment on her older brother’s death.
