The viewers were shocked by Yle’s decision not to perform in the final of the New Music Competition despite Lord.
Lord’s UMK wreck angered the Finns. Pete Anikari
The viewers of the final of the new music competition have cheered for the heavy metal band Lord.
Iltalehti reported on Tuesday that Finland’s only five-piece winner will not be seen in Saturday’s five-piece qualifying, despite the fact that the band, which is celebrating its jubilee year, had itself approached Yle for the second time about a possible performance. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Lord’s win.
– Not suitable, Mr. Lord said to Iltalehte, colored by words of strength.
Among other things, hundreds of messages filled with sadness and rage have been left on the anonymous message service Jodel after Iltalehti’s news. Many people have been hurt on Lord’s behalf and bore Yle with a lot of twists and turns. Others demanded a public apology from Yle.
– Finland’s only five-time winner so far does not deserve this kind of crap. Shame on UMK!
– So I thought that Yle really ruined Lord there, but they hadn’t even thought to ask?
– Damn good bet Yle, you burned the bridges to Lord once and for all.
– How the hell did UMK imagine that viewers wouldn’t want to see Lord perform?
– Unbelievably outrageous behavior from Yle.
– I was also very much looking forward to Lordi at UMK. I was ten years old when Lordi won and it was the first year I got to watch the fives in full. Such a great memory! Silly Yle.
– I have never been so angry with Yle as I am now.
– My heart breaks for our monsters. I’ve been calling since the summer that I can come.
– Unbelievable that Lordi didn’t qualify. Unfathomable misjudgment, your head will explode!
The final of the new music competition took place on Saturday. The broadcast was hosted by Sami Sykkö, Jasmin Beloued, and Jorma Uotinen. Elle Laitila
The matter is also being discussed On the Viisukuppila forum.
– I think this is a real motherfucker from Yle. You could have somehow imagined that Lordi would be asked to perform the victory song at UMK in honor of the first anniversary, but no. The band has to ask about that themselves.
– Totally stupid bullshit from Yle.
– Has the UMK team somehow got a kick out of it, if they can afford to leave out our only winner?
The most exhausted viewers have gone to write their messages UMK’s Instagram publications to the comments.
– Now a statement from Yle and UMK would be in order. It’s embarrassing how you treat our only talent winner in their 20th anniversary year. Really disappointed with Yle.
“It was here”
Mr. Lordi told Iltalehti that two different record companies had contacted Yle during the summer and autumn and asked if Lordi could perform at the UMK final in February.
– It became extremely clear that it does not fit, does not fit into their thinking and UMK’s feeling musically and stylistically, Mr. Lordi shared his view on the matter.
– It feels ridiculous. It’s not that we needed that performance, the gigs sell anyway. Now would have been the momentum, when it’s been 20 years since the victory and there haven’t been many other winners from Finland. For me, performing would have been full circle. Apparently we were thinking stupidly and childishly.
Later, UMK was asked if Lordi would sit in the audience Wrapper and by Erika Vikman between.
– They also said that I might be able to share the prize. God, that’s already a discount. I really don’t drive from Rovaniemi to Tampere for something like that.

According to Mr. Lord, UMK’s chief producer Anssi Autio had contacted the musician some time ago and apologized.
Yle entertainment’s editorial manager Juha Lahti told Iltalehti that Lordi had indeed been in mind at UMK, but unfortunately the visit was not successful now.
According to Mr. Lord, there is no need to wait for a visit in the future.
– You won’t come to UMK even if you ask, if you don’t fit, then you don’t fit. I felt sad, but nothing more than a chin to my chest. It’s a damn shame it was here.
Long-tempered
Mr. Lordi is known as a long-tempered person. After winning five prizes in the spring of 2006, the photos revealing the musician’s face began to spread in the media in Finland and around Europe. The pictures were from a years-old magazine story where the man had presented his Kiss-themed tattoos.
After Lordi’s popularity exploded, the photographer sold the pictures.
– This guy, whose name I no longer remember, will forever be on my so-called black list, Mr. Lordi said in an interview with Iltalehti two years ago.
– I’m damn long-tempered, I’m bitter about it until the end.
Lordi won the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest in Athens with his song Hard Rock Hallelujah and set the competition’s points record up to that time. Lordi is still Finland’s only five-a-side winner.
