Corato (Bari), 13 December. (askanews) – Every year, on the eve of Saint Lucia, the tradition of “Jò a Jò” is repeated in Corato. The procession with the statue of Saint Lucia starts from the Cathedral of the Apulian municipality, which ends with the lighting of a large bonfire in Piazza Cesare Battisti. The “Jo a Jo”, which in dialect recalls children celebrating the bonfire, is a symbol of light and warmth and part of an ancient tradition linked to peasant rites. The event is accompanied by music and artistic performances, with tasting of typical products at the food and wine stands set up for the occasion. A celebration that this year also boasts something new: the launch of “Corato Cultivar Bellezza”, a manifesto project of identity and innovation, an invitation to discover the most authentic Puglia, where culture becomes experience, oil art, and the community shares beauty.
