Hard means are necessary when it takes less than 17 hours to recover from a marathon match that ended at midnight for the next match.
The one who became the leader of Tappara this spring Joni Tuulola revealed how it was done.
– I tried to eat as heavy a breakfast as possible. It was a kind of spaghetti omelette system.
– Then go for a walk and back to sleep. Then I ate lunch, went back to sleep and then came here, Tuulola said.
With little sleep
At night, Tuulola said she slept for about 2–3 hours. You noticed it when you woke up.
– I felt like I had spent a long Tammerfest weekend. Yes, it was more like being under a truck.
Tuulola played no less than 48 minutes in the match that started on Friday and almost 20 minutes on Saturday. In total, there were about 68 playing minutes in just over a day.
– I felt it in my body. I can say that getting to sleep after a match is not the easiest thing in the world.
– In between, I refueled when I was awake, Tuulola said.
A place of forced victory
According to Tuulola, Friday’s historically long league final was seen on Saturday as a leisurely tempo on the rink. Saturday was bitter for Tappara, as they lost 2–1 and are in a must-win position on Monday in Kouvola.
– KooKoo got a little on top of the game. I think it was a really even game in all aspects.
Tuulola denied that Tappara felt good after Friday’s overtime victory.
– Winning a single game doesn’t warm our spirits, unless it’s a decisive fourth win.
The Finnish championship is interrupted for the first time for KooKoo in the sixth final to be played in Kouvola on Monday. If Tappara wins, the decisive seventh final will be played on Wednesday in Tampere.
