Margo Dydek was a Polish basketball player, chosen by the Utah Starzz at number 1 in the second draft in the history of the Wnba, in 1998. Already 1.80 tall at 12 years old, basketball was her destiny. In 1992 she began playing in Europe and despite her professional career already underway in Europe, it took scouts a while to notice her and she arrived in the United States at 23 years old. After seven seasons with the Utah Starzz (later San Antonio) she was traded to the Connecticut Sun in 2005, where she remained for three seasons. Subsequently, after retiring from full-time activity, she briefly returned to the field, playing two games with the Los Angeles Sparks in 2008. And like many athletes, she continued to play in Europe, at Arka Gdynia, during the winter. He was the best blocker in the league for 9 seasons, and in his career he boasted 877 blocks in 323 games played, still the best in total number. Her record for blocks in a single season (114) remained unbeaten for 16 years, until Brittney Griner blocked 129 shots in 2014. She spoke five languages, and was loved by everyone, in every city she played in she had friends and was affectionately nicknamed “Large Marge”. At the end of her career she moved to Australia with her husband, where she began coaching. On May 27, 2011, pregnant with her third child, she had a heart attack and died after eight days in a coma, losing the baby.
