Judged in Swedish Idols Peter Swartling was sentenced to a five-month suspended sentence in the district court of Länsi-Uusimaa for a serious accounting crime.

The crime concerns the accounting of the Finnish electricity retailer Werel Oy. Werel Oy is a subsidiary of the Swedish Werel AB.

The time of the crime is the whole year 2018 and the place of the crime is Espoo. Swartling and his partner had completely neglected Werel Oy’s accounting and financial statements, which makes the crime egregious.

Swartling has denied any wrongdoing. According to him, the partner is responsible for accounting in Finland.

In addition, Swartling was sentenced to pay a crime victim fee of 80 euros. The legal fees, 11,000 euros, will be paid by the state due to Swartling’s financial situation.

Swartling’s business partner was also sentenced to a six-month suspended prison sentence.

Werel Oy ceased operations in Finland in 2018.

The judgment is not yet final.
