Wimbledon winner Markéta Vondroušováa there is a threat of a long ban from competition. Among other things, the news covered the matter German newspaper Bild.
The tennis anti-doping organization Ita is currently investigating Vondroušová, as the Czech player refused a doping test in December.
The 26-year-old Vondroušová will be allowed to play during Ita’s investigation. However, he is at worst threatened with a four-year ban.
A peculiar explanation
Vondroušová published a statement about it on her Instagram account. He justified the refusal of the doping test with a stress reaction.
The tennis player said that he was afraid and hesitated when the doping tester arrived at his door late at night. Tests are not announced in advance.
– Someone rang my doorbell late at night and didn’t say who it was or follow the usual rules. So I reacted with fear, the tennis ace started and continued:
– In that moment, the most important thing for me was to feel safe and not avoid anything. The experts confirmed that I was suffering from acute stress reaction and generalized anxiety disorder.
Vondroušová also highlighted the tennis player on Instagram Petra Kvitová the case. Kvitová was stabbed in her home 10 years ago.
According to the Health Library, anxiety disorders that have become more common are, for example, constantly worrying about things. A person can worry disproportionately in relation to the circumstances, but cannot stop their anxiety.
Vondroušová won Wimbledon singles in 2023. Her highest ranking in the world singles rankings is sixth.
Currently, the Czech player is ranked 45. He recently returned to the playing fields after an injury.
