The European football association Uefa has decided that the break situation of the Belgium-Sweden match, which was interrupted on Monday due to a terrorist attack, will also remain the result.

Swedish captain Victor Lindelöf negotiated with the Belgian hosts during the break, and together they decided that the game should no longer be continued. The players only found out about the terrorist attack that claimed the lives of two Swedish fans during the break.

At that point, the score was exactly 1–1. Now Uefa also decided that it will be the final result of the match.

– Belgium is already in the European Championship, and we can’t get there. So I don’t see any point in playing to the end of the game, Lindelöf reasoned even then.

The decision was influenced by the fact that neither football association showed interest in the latter 45 minutes.

Suspensions suffered in the opening period are considered to be cleared at the same time. However, the warnings issued during that time will remain in effect.

Belgian Minister of the Interior Annelies Verlinden confirmed on Tuesday that the perpetrator of the terrorist attack died on Tuesday in the hands of the police.

At the same time, Uefa decided that for the time being, no national matches or Eurocup matches between Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Tel-Aviv will be played on Israeli soil.
