The rain surprises both the guests and the curious who have come to see the Royal Family
The Kings are already in Oviedo. The Royal Family arrived at the Príncipe Felipe de Oviedo Auditorium minutes before half past seven to enjoy the flamenco work that was going to be staged by the winners of the “Princess” of the Arts: the cantaora Carmen Linares and the bailaora María Pagés. Carmen and Maria. Two paths and one look” was the title chosen for the show organized by the Princess of Asturias Foundation with the collaboration of the Cajastur Foundation.
The queue of guests at the event was surprised by the sudden rain that fell heavily from six in the afternoon; some precipitation that silenced the lively sound of the bagpipes that accompanied the beginning of the act with their music. Those present, however, endured the downpour so as not to miss any detail of the arrival of the Royal Family.
Among them were Pilar Menéndez and her friends, who an hour before the start of the show were already keeping positions in front of the Auditorium. They have been hosting the royal family for 20 years during awards week. “We are very excited to be here for Asturias, these awards are very important,” they assured. Every year its banner is different and this year the protagonist is the Princess of Asturias. “She is a beautiful girl,” Pilar emphasized.
The group of friends will go to the exemplary town this year and tomorrow their banner will be in Campoamor with an important absence, that of Pilar, who will attend the gala for the first time: “I started to cry when I got the invitation. I’m going to go with my son and my friends will be very present”.

The expectation of the public before the arrival of the Kings at the Principe Felipe Auditorium was that year (if possible) even greater than the previous ones. Because this year there was the hope that some member would come closer, as they used to do before the pandemic. However, it did not happen.

The unusual 26 degrees for Asturias at the end of October justified the look of Queen Letizia who, despite having her shoulders and arms in the air, did not receive criticism and got the approval of the attendees. “I really liked her dress, it was very summery and very appropriate for her and the day & rdquor ;. The journey of the Kings
Tomorrow, Friday, will be a day of greetings for the monarchs and their daughters. At eleven o’clock in the morning the royal hearings will begin, with this schedule in the Council room of the Hotel de la Reconquista.
11:20 a.m.: Reception to the winners of the 2021 End of Degree Awards of the University of Oviedo.
11:40 a.m.: Reception for the winners of the 2022 Asturias Medals, which this year were the athlete Raúl Entrerríos (Gijón, 1981); the Spanish ambassador to Canada, Alfredo Martínez Serrano (Oviedo, 1971), the artisan cheesemaker Isaura Souza Ordiales (Siero, 1946), the community of Benedictine nuns from the San Pelayo Monastery and the Food Bank Foundation.
The audiences for the winners will follow, in this case in the Covadonga Hall of the Hotel de la Reconquista.
12:30 p.m.: The presidents of the juries, the members of the Princess of Asturias Board of Trustees and of the Foundation and the winners of the 2022 Princess of Asturias Awards will be received successively.
The afternoon program focuses on the 2022 Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony, which will kick off the 6:30 p.m. andn the Campoamor theater.
