The Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia initiated the development of a bill, according to which it will be possible to seize property from enterprises to pay wage arrears. About it report “Izvestia” with reference to the statement of the department.

They specified that in 2021 the State Labor Inspectorates (GIT) forcibly collected 364.4 million rubles from employers. in repayment of wage arrears, however, the mechanism of extrajudicial debt collection still needs to be improved.

“The work of state labor inspectorates in this direction was not sufficiently effective. This, among other things, is hindered by the inability to recover wage arrears at the expense of any property of the debtor, ”the department noted.

Corresponding amendments to the law “On Enforcement Proceedings” are now being developed in the structures of the Ministry of Labor, the Prosecutor General’s Office explained. According to the current law, if the company is not declared bankrupt, it is possible to collect wage debt only from money from its current accounts, the Ministry of Labor explained to Izvestia. And at the expense of property, debts are extinguished only if the enterprise is declared bankrupt.
