Hjallis Harkimo turned 70 at the beginning of November. Round years were celebrated in Helsinki’s Old Student Hall in large numbers.

Among others, Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, politicians took part in the celebration Juha Sipilä, Timo Soini and Antti Lindtman and numerous other invited guests.

Prime Minister Petteri Orpo is happy to congratulate Harkimo on his celebration.

– Even though we are in different parties these days, we always have to have good connections. Hjallis is a friendly and good person. Even though we have drifted into different parties in politics, I had the feeling that I wanted to come to congratulate, Orpo tells Iltalehte at Harkimo’s party.

According to Orpo, they did “a lot of good cooperation” with Harkimo during the coalition days.

– It was always nice with him, Orpo continues.

Sometimes Orpo and Harkimo have also been at odds.

– That was when he left us. It was a tight spot and it hurt. But in life you have to move forward, you have to be able to talk and like I said, even though we have gone in different directions at work, we have always been able to talk.

– Hjallis is Hjallis, Orpo concludes with a laugh.

The best father

There were also plenty of Hjallis Harkimo’s relatives and close friends.

The boys of Harkimo Dan, Leo and Joel thank their father for all the support he has given. Neither of the boys believe that their father actually turned 70.

– You can’t ask for a better father. He has always been supportive, supportive and we have been able to do a lot together, says Joel.

– He has also given many opportunities. Me and Dan were allowed to play hockey in America and not everyone gets the same opportunity. You have to be really grateful for that, Leo continues.

Although Hjallis has provided many opportunities for his sons, the best memories are related to everyday, shared moments and closeness.

– It’s always nice to be together with the family. Whenever we are with family and relatives in Sipoo, we sit at the table and throw a flap and eat, that’s the best, says Leo gently.

– Even though you get to do cool things and experience all kinds of things, everyday life is the best, we are close and spend time together, says Joel.

Joel and his wife Janni Hussi currently live as Hjallis’ neighbors in Sipoo. Joel jokingly states that he was afraid of what a burden his father would be as a neighbor, but everything has gone smoothly.

– He is a pretty calm neighbor. I thought that he would come there every day to do something, but I haven’t seen him much. There was no need to build a wall.

– I was more afraid for Janni, what he would think when the faija runs around the yards every day. But he hasn’t been seen much, Joel laughs.
