The café St George Bakery, located in connection with the St George Hotel, has introduced a laptop ban. The use of laptops is prohibited in the cafe during lunch time, i.e. between 12:00 and 14:00.

– With recommendations and guidance, we want to ensure that all our guests and customers find suitable moments in our cafe to enjoy our services and various bakery and cafe products according to their wishes, even during the busiest lunchtime, says the hotel manager Jukka Räisänen.

Many customers of St Georgen Bakery use a laptop in the cafe to do remote work and, according to Räisänen, to some extent also for remote meetings. Exact numbers of people using laptops in the cafe have not been monitored.

The restriction on lunch time came into effect a little over a week ago.

– The matter has sparked some discussion and the feedback has been mostly positive, Räisänen says.

He says the recommendation is valid for the time being and describes it as experimental.

– We follow customer feedback and react based on it if necessary.

He was the first to tell about it Helsingin Sanomat.
