Lidl opened a pop-up restaurant together with Henri Alén. Visitors tell us what they think of the lunch experience.

Lidl and Chef by Henri Alen joint restaurant Lidlerie opened its doors on Tuesday at lunchtime. Before h-moment, an impatient crowd of about 10 people has gathered in front of the restaurant.

– We’ve been talking for a long time that it would be fun to go to Lidl for lunch. Now we read in the newspaper that there is such an event, says the Helsinki resident Katri.

Katri regrets that they didn’t have time to get a table reservation for lunch.

– They went so fast. Let’s hope that there is still room to get in from this queue.

The pop-up restaurant has already attracted a lot of attention in the past. Lidl previously said that the restaurant’s seats were fully reserved in less than half an hour, and the additional seats announced later in four minutes.

A few walk-in places have also been left on Lidlers’ tables for customers who come spontaneously to the place. Unfortunately, after the doors open, not everyone who wants to can get in on Tuesday. Also Katri and his companions have to turn around at the door to look for another place to have lunch.

Jaana Seppänen and Juha-Pekka Rämö instead, they are among the first diners to step to their table. They say that they made a table reservation well in advance.

– I woke up before seven and noticed that there are reservations. Then we took a lunch reservation, says Seppänen.

The couple expects a fine dining experience from lunch.

– It’s interesting how such cheap ingredients can be used to make representative food, Rämö ponders before lunch.

We leave Seppänen and Rämö to enjoy their food and head to our place.

The first look at the pop-up restaurant operating in Finnjäveli’s premises is colorful but calm. The hall is decorated with Lidl brand colors and signs.

A formation consisting of fruits and vegetables has been built on one of the walls. In the other corner, there is a chocolate stall, where everyone can pick up sweets to take home after lunch.

The restaurant’s toilets have also been taken into account in the decoration, there are various types of bread on the table.

We grab the menus in our hands. First of all, attention is drawn to the cheap prices.

The affordable price of alcohol is especially surprising. For example, you have to shell out a measly 1.29 euros for a cheaper alcoholic beer, and you can get a tentacle for just over 2 euros. The price of a 12-cent liter glass of wine is less than 2 euros.

We choose starters, mains and desserts from the lunch menu. In addition, we taste four different non-alcoholic drink exchanges. All drinks cost well under one euro.

Lidler’s affordability is based on the fact that its menu is made up entirely of products found in Lidl stores. Only the price of the raw materials is paid for the portions.

Soon we will be able to eat.

For employees with a strict lunch time, Lidler’s lunch cannot be recommended, as it took almost two hours to enjoy the dishes. However, the taste of the food turned out to be quite tasty. Seppänen and Rämö agree.

– Excellent, excellent!

According to Rämö, the raw materials seemed first-class. He says that he especially enjoyed the salmon appetizer.

– Last but not least was maturity and flavor combinations. It was good, recommended, Rämö states.

According to the couple, the bill was also quite right.

– 36 euros for two. It wasn’t expensive.
