The United States military may be involved in the evacuation of US citizens from Ukraine, but there are no plans to send them to Ukrainian territory. This was stated by Pentagon spokesman John Kirby during a briefing.

“I cannot rule out that these soldiers may be involved to some extent in supporting the evacuation from the other side of this border. Of course they’ll be ready for it,” Kirby said.

He clarified that military personnel from the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States, who were sent to Poland, could be involved in the evacuation.

Earlier, CNN and the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing unnamed representatives of the US administration, reported that President Joe Biden sent an additional group of US military personnel to Eastern Europe.
