The new truce being negotiated in Gaza leaves behind the campaign by Israel and the US to associate Hamas with ISIS

A new truce is in the process of brewing between Israel and Hamas for Loop in a frenetic negotiation in Qatar and Cairo involving intelligence chiefs of USA and Israel in contact with intermediaries from the aforementioned emirate and the Government of Egypt, who in turn meet simultaneously in both countries with Hamas emissaries.

The head of the political branch of Hamas, Ismail Haniyehis the interlocutor, in consultation, in turn, with the head of the military branch of Hamas – the militias of the Al Qassam brigade -, Yahya Sinwarthe organizer of the attack on October 7, 2023, which caused 1,200 deaths (a figure reduced from the initial 1,400) and the kidnapping of 220 Israeli and foreign hostages.

Haniyeh arrived this Wednesday, December 20, in the Egyptian capital. Already in October he was in charge of negotiating in Turkey a first pause in the war that was later extended. This Hamas political official took over as prime minister of the Gaza Government after the victory of the Islamist movement by absolute majority in the 2006 Palestinian Legislative Council elections. He has never, as far as is known, proposed the destruction of Israel, and recently when negotiating the “humanitarian breaks“He again proposed negotiation with Israel to reach a solution with two states.

Haniyeh, born in 1963 in the Al Shati refugee camp in Gaza, lives in exile in Qatar, but his family home was bombed in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza, in which 14 people died, including his brother and a nephew.

Contacts in Doha

The multiple contacts between Israel and Hamas, through the governments of Qatar and Egypt, on the one hand, and the meetings between the heads of Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)American, William Burns, and that of the Israeli service MossadDavid Barnea, take place in the midst of a change in the Israeli-American propaganda line in which Hamas was identified with the Islamic terrorism of ISIS (Islamic State). The contacts, as noted, between the intelligence chiefs have taken place especially in Doha, Qatar. And he looks at where two of the political leaders of Hamas – Haniyeh himself and Khalid Marshal – officially reside in the aforementioned emirate.

The exchange of Israeli and foreign hostages and the testimonies of several of them that they have been treated correctly during their unjust and abusive captivity also do not fit with the Hamas identification campaign with ISIS. Not to mention the claims, quickly abandoned, about the alleged beheading of 40 babies in the Kfar Aza kibbutz, a claim presented as a proven fact by the president of the United States, Joe Bidenand later ground with the small mouth.

As has also happened with the figure of 1,400 deaths, later reduced to 1,200. Those 200 people – charred – were first identified as Israelis and later turned out to be Palestinians.

The Islamist character of Hamas, on the other hand, has not spared it furious criticism from ISIS at the time, an organization that never managed to enter Gaza, where it tried without success.

In any case, it seems evident that neither the Americans nor the Israelis are now interested in stirring up the Hamas=ISIS propaganda. How to admit that they negotiate with… ISIS?

Hamas has maintained official contacts and delegations for several years in several countries such as Qatar, Algeria, Egypt, Iran and Russia.

Meanwhile, two and a half months have passed since the horrendous attack on October 7. And investigations into it are paralyzed in Israel “until after” the war against the Palestinians in Gaza, according to the prime minister’s proposal. Binyamin Netanyahu. However, there is evidence that the preparation of the operation was underestimated by the intelligence services when they obtained evidence about it in October 2022 and July 2023.

Israeli Army actions

The British journalist Jonathan Cookwho has lived for many years in Nazareth, Israel, wrote a column on December 15 in which he asked why the Western media ignores the evidence of the Israeli Army’s own actions during the events of October 7, 2023.

The stories of some hostages, such as Yasmin Porat, who fled the Nova festival and ended up hiding in Be’eri, was one of the few who survived that day. Her partner, Tal Katz, was murdered. He has repeatedly explained to Israeli media what happened.

According to the Kan radio account, on November 15, 2023, Hamas fighters in Be’eri barricaded themselves in a house with a group of approximately a dozen Israeli hostages, either planning to use them as human shields or as currency of exchange for an exit. However, the Israeli Army was in no mood to negotiate. Porat escaped only because one of the Hamas fighters left the house early on, using it as a human shield, before surrendering.

Porat describes Israeli soldiers participating in a four hour shootout with Hamas gunmen, despite the presence of civilians Israelis. But not all the hostages died in the crossfire. Israel ended the confrontation with an Israeli tank firing two shells at the house.

According to Porat, when he asked why they had done it, “they explained to me that it was to break the walls, to help purify the house.”

The only other survivor, Hadas Dagan, who was lying face down on the grass in front of the house during the shooting, informed Porat of what happened after the two projectiles hit the house.

Dagan saw her two companions lying near her, dead from the shrapnel of the explosions.

A 12-year-old girl, Liel Hatsroni, who had been screaming inside the house throughout the shooting, also remained silent. Hatsroni and her aunt, Ayalan, were cremated. It took weeks to identify their bodies.

In particular, the charred remains of Liel Hatsroni have been one of the emotive evidence cited by Israel to accuse Hamas of killing and burning Israelis.

Jonathan Cook also cites the testimony of confused Israeli Army helicopter pilots.

“The cars burned at the Nova festival and their occupants appear to have suffered a similar fate. Apparently concerned that Hamas gunmen were fleeing the area with hostages in cars, helicopter pilots were ordered to open fire, incinerating cars and all occupants.

The Hannibal Protocol

In the Israeli media, this behavior of the Israeli soldiers is explained by the existence of the so-called Hannibal protocola secret instruction by which the taking of hostages of Israeli soldiers must be avoided in order to avoid their subsequent exchange for Palestinians imprisoned in Israeli prisons. Precisely, in videos published, some of them by the Israeli Army, it is seen how Israeli helicopters randomly fire missiles at cars that were leaving the festival area, with the idea that they were carrying hostages towards Gaza.
