The trailer for the final seasons of “Stranger Things” has fans fearing a tragic series finale – suitably accompanied by Queen’s “Who Wants To Live Forever”.
“Stranger Things” fans can hardly stand the wait until the fifth and final season of the hit series appears at the end of November. However, the trailer for the final episodes released on October 30th is unlikely to calm the nerves – on the contrary: it ominously hints at a dark end to the mystery series.
Editorial recommendations
“There is not a single happy moment in the trailer,” commented a desperate user on YouTube, where the English-language video had already received 8.2 million views in the first 20 hours. Fire, monsters, blood, death and despair dominate the scenes, which lead to an ending full of suffering and tension.

Which song can be heard this time?
Once again, special attention is paid to the trailer’s song selection. In the previous four seasons, the series has already managed to atmospherically underline the imaginative world of “Stranger Things” through targeted music selection. What became famous was the use of Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” from 1985 in the fourth season. The song experienced a worldwide revival through the series, reaching number one on the charts in several countries and becoming one of the most streamed songs worldwide. Bush earned millions in royalties as the copyright owner.
Queen’s “Who Wants To Live Forever” in the trailer
The new trailer for season five is accompanied by Queen’s “Who Wants To Live Forever.” The song is the sixth track from the album A KIND OF MAGIC, released in June 1986, and was written by guitarist Brian May for the soundtrack of the film “Highlander”. The band was accompanied by an orchestra conducted by film composer Michael Kamen. The track reached number 24 in the UK charts and was included on the band’s second compilation album, GREATEST HITS II, in 1991. In the part chosen for the new trailer, May and Freddie Mercury take turns singing.
Start dates and plot
The first part of the final season will be released on November 27th at 2 a.m. German time, the second part on December 26th at 2 a.m. The series finale will finally air on New Year’s Day. The makers have already confirmed in interviews that there is a time jump of 18 months between the finale of the fourth season and the first episode of the fifth season. All characters are back in the fictional town of Hawkins and living there under military quarantine. The producers also told Variety that the finale would last about two hours.
