Ole Werner’s obligation at RB Leipzig is probably only a matter of form. The coach will earn better than with its old employer.
The search has ended: Ole Werner becomes RB Leipzig coach. Already on Friday, several media reported that the Saxons and Werner’s ex-club Werder Bremen had agreed on a transfer fee for the 37-year-old after long negotiations. Werner is to receive a two -year contract in Leipzig. Only formalities should still be clarified, it was said last.
Officially, RB still has not announced the deal, but according to a report it is clear which sum the club transfers to Bremen – and which will end up in the account of Ole Werner in the future. As the “picture” writes, the North Germans receive a fixed transfer payment of 1.5 million euros for their ex-coach, who was released after last season. There are also bonuses -related bonuses. Werder could also collect up to 500,000 euros for Werner.
Meanwhile, the former Kieler makes a clear dive for his new employer. In Leipzig, he will earn 2.5 million euros a year in the future. In Bremen, he had just got a little more than half as much in Bremen. In the end, bonuses could even give Werner a total of three million euros a year.
It is also exciting to have a clause that is said to be anchored in Werner’s contract. According to the first Leipzig coach, which receives 30 percent less salary, he should be missed, the qualification for the Champions League should be missed. RB apparently also integrates this clause into future player contracts.
Leipzig is not represented in the premier class this season. The team arrived in seventh place after a disappointing season. Coach Marco Rose was released from his tasks in March 2025. Zsolt Lőw took over, but could not give the decisive impulse in the final season games to achieve international business.
