The Netherlands is working on a plan to start training Ukrainian pilots for the F-16 as soon as possible. This is done together with a number of partner countries. Minister Kajsa Ollongren reports this to the House of Representatives today.

The Netherlands is collaborating in this project with Denmark, Belgium and the United Kingdom. More countries are expected to participate. There will also be an important role for industry. According to Minister Ollongren, the countries are also looking at the possibility of meeting the Ukrainian training needs in a sustainable manner in the longer term.

Military support

The total value of the military aid provided to Ukraine now amounts to approximately € 1.6 billion. The equipment supplied has a book value of € 732 million. The amount also consists of commercial supplies and contributions to various funds, both military and humanitarian.

Since the last update of April 13, Defense has again donated a number of military goods. These include air defense systems, ammunition (small caliber), night vision equipment, trucks and logistics equipment such as cranes and shovels.

Effects on readiness

Deliveries from operational stocks have consequences for our own readiness, but are considered acceptable under the current circumstances. The continued military support also has a delaying effect on acquisition projects. Defense is taking measures to limit these consequences, for example by accelerating the purchase of replacement equipment and strengthening project and procurement capacity.
