On Thursday, the Netherlands promised 300 million euros for the reconstruction and strengthening of Ukraine in 2025 and 2026. Minister Caspar Veldkamp of Foreign Affairs announced the support during the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) in Rome in which the Minister and Prime Minister Dick Schoof participates. The URC is an annual international conference that is dominated by the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine.

The minister also announced that this amount clears 30 million euros to support Dutch companies and organizations in setting up projects that contribute to the reconstruction and sustainable recovery of Ukraine through the Ukraine Partnership Facility (UPF) subsidy program. Veldkamp has also announced that part of the Dutch contribution, namely 52 million euros, will be spent in 2025 on restoring the energy infrastructure and drinking water facilities in Ukraine.

In addition, the Netherlands is donating 4 million euros for the new construction of a wing of the children’s hospital in LVIV, in collaboration with the Princess Máxima Center for Children’s Oncology in Utrecht.

The amounts are part of money that the government has previously reserved for 2025 and 2026 for non-military support for Ukraine. In total it concerns more than 500 million euros, 252 million euros per year. The interpretation of the first 200 million euros was already announced. The destination of the remaining amount is now also certain.

“Russia not only wants to get Ukraine on his knees, but has also been trying to destroy Ukrainian society and economy for more than three years by continuous attacks on the energy infrastructure, the water supply, grain storage, but also on houses and apartments. It is therefore important that the international community and the interior of Ukrainian and except weapons except Van Ukraine has to be held, because that helps the country in its struggle.

Ukraine Partnership Facility

20 million euros for strengthening cyber resilience Ukraine

During the conference, attention will also go to the strengthening of the cyber resilience of Ukraine. The Netherlands has previously announced that it will make 10 million a year available for 2025 and 2026 for cyber support on Ukraine. The cyber threat from Russia to which Ukraine is exposed is unparalleled. Cyber ​​operations are an integral part of Russian warfare. With the money, for example, cyber resilience can be increased within critical sectors such as energy and transport.
