The most popular shoes and brands of the third quarter of 2022

The online retailer shoes.de has compiled its bestsellers in the third quarter of 2022 and broken them down by categories, brands and cities or the preferences of women, men and children. The network currently includes 525 companies with 1,416 branches. Here are the most popular shoes, strongest brands and top cities.

The most popular types of shoes

While, unsurprisingly, sandals were in the lead for women in summer – followed by booties, mules, lace-up shoes and pumps – men clearly preferred sports shoes, followed by lace-up shoes, sneakers, open-toe shoes and boots.

Among the children, girls preferred boots, followed by sports shoes and sneakers or low shoes and open-toe shoes, while boys predominantly opted for sports shoes, followed by boots, sneakers, low shoes and slippers.

The strongest shoe brands

In general, the Rosenheim-based Gabor Shoes AG was at the top of the brands in the third quarter, followed by the Tamaris brand, which belongs to the Wortmann Group. The Swiss brand Rieker established itself in third place, followed by Birkenstock and the Jetzendorf-based outdoor shoe brand Lowa. Places six to ten were taken by the Paul Green brand, which belongs to Schuh Lüke, as well as Nike, Adidas, On and Skechers, in that order.

In the women’s category, Gabor was able to score twice – in first place and in tenth place with Gabor Comfort. Tamaris, Birkenstock, Rieker and Paul Green complete the top five, while Austrian brand Ara, On, Lugina-branded Waldlaufer and Skechers are sixth through ninth, respectively.

Sports brands such as Nike and Adidas are in the lead for men, followed by On, Rieker, the Sulinger shoe brand Lloyd, Bugatti, Lowa, alpine, sports and outdoor specialist Meindl and the Danish brand Ecco.

As children’s shoe suppliers, Lowa, Superfit, Froddo, Adidas, Ricosta, Lurchi, Nike, Vado, Meindl and Lico each scored places one to ten.

Cologne was the top-selling city, followed by Berlin, Munich, Hamburg and Stuttgart in the top five. Places six to ten went to Frankfurt am Main, Dresden, Hanover, Dortmund and Leipzig.

More than 220,000 products from the areas of women’s, men’s and children’s shoes as well as accessories, fashion, sports and accessories are currently available on shoes.de. Of the connected branches, 1,049 have activated the sales function and 776 use the reservation function.
